Our Mission

Vidhyadhar SRICALA is devoted to do research in folk performing arts. It has for the last ten years been working to restore and revitalize the folk theater forms of central Himalayas. In the past, it was experimented with bardic, mask, processional and ritual theater. The group in collaboration with REACH presented Chakravyuh in Bharat Rang Mahotsav 2001.
Vidyadhar’s society foe regional and indigineous culture, Arts, Literature and Artiste came in to existence i 1998 in Srinagar Garhwal. Devoted to research documentation and experimentation of folk art form of central Himalayan region, it has been working on the forms and performer that are fast dying out. The society has documented hundreds of folk songs, ballads, theatre forms and festivals. It began its journey in 1999 by organizing Garh Natya Shivir in collaboration with the National School Of Drama, New Delhi . It has so far produced Sadhunaam Khetrapaal, Panch Bhai Kathait, Chakravyuh and Burhdeva. It is a rare distinction that all the plays produced by the group have been presented in Bharat Rang Mahotsav in the year 2001, 2002 and 2005 organized by the National School Of Drama, New Delhi.
